NEW YORK -The Roberts Wesleyan College women's soccer team scored three goals in the final 33 minutes to open its season with a 3-0 non-conference win at Nyack College on Thursday.
"I thought our team really responded well in the second half and found the back of the net," Redhawks coach
Sarah McClellan said. "It was a gritty team effort that we can certainly build upon. We have a lot that we can improve on, but we showed a fantastic winning mentality."
Junior
Gabrielle Ciambella opened the scoring off an assist from freshman
Kaeleigh Romero at the 58:06 mark.
Freshman
Ella White gave the Redhawks a 2-0 lead with an unassisted tally at 79:25 and freshman
Courtney Seery converted an assist from Romero to close the scoring at 85:26.
Roberts outshot Nyack 10-4 and held a 6-1 edge in shots on goal.
Junior
Nicolette Knauf recorded the clean sheet in goal.
The Redhawks continue their season opening road trip with a match at Bloomfield College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
