CANTON, OHIO – The Roberts Wesleyan College women's soccer team completed its season-opening three-game road trip with its third straight victory, a resilient 2-1 non-conference win over Malone University.
Freshman
Ella White converted an assist from Maia Lavigne for the winning goal with 3:36 to play. White's team leading third goal of the season came just 5:30 after Malone had evened the game.
"It was a battle and Malone was a strong team," Roberts coach
Sarah McClellan said. "We had a great response from getting scored on and learned a lot. We are also looking forward to a home game after playing our first three on the road."
Freshman
Kara Choate scored her first collegiate goal with 9:11 remaining in the first half from 12 yards out to give the Redhawks (3-0) a 1-0 lead. Â Choate won the ball from a defender after a long pass from
Karly Tausch, who earned an assist.
Nicolette Knauf made three saves as Roberts improved to 4-1-1 against Malone.
The Redhawks opened the season with a 3-0 win at Nyack College on Aug. 25 and a 4-1 victory at Bloomfield College.
The Redhawks play their home opener against Bluefield State College at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
