ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It did not take
Ryan Garwood to make his presence felt on Wednesday night.
Garwood entered the Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team's non-conference game against Mansfield University with 15:44 to play in the first half.
The sophomore guard sank a three-pointer from the right corner three seconds later and did not miss all night as the Redhawks rallied from an early 9-0 deficit to secure an 85-82 victory at the Voller Athletic Center.
Garwood made all five of his field goal attempts, including three from long range, and four free throws on his way to a 17-point night. Senior guard
Malik Brooks also scored 17 for the Redhawks (3-6), who led 45-42 at halftime and were in front by as many as 11 in the second half.
Junior guard
Kevin Constant added 13 points and
Marlon Pratt Jr. contributed 11 for Roberts.
Jermaine Taggart II added nine points and
Isaiah Elmore pulled down seven rebounds and blocked five shots.
Roberts made 30 of its 53 field goal attempts (56.6%) and connected on eight three-pointers in the contest.
The Redhawks host Felician University at 2 p.m. on Sunday in their final game of the 2023 calendar year.
