WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team scored the first six points of the game, but the University of the District Columbia responded with a 23-2 run and went on to defeat the Redhawks 90-66 in an East Coast Conference game on Thursday night.
The host Firebirds made 7 of 17 three-point attempts and forced 13 turnovers in the first half to take a 46-32 lead at the break.
Sophomore guard
Malik Brooks led Roberts (9-14, 7-8 ECC) with 17 points and senior
Nicholas Johnson posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Abou Gbane added 12 points and
Ja'Kair Sanchez contributed nine rebounds and four assists for the Redhawks.
Roberts, which has secured a spot in the ECC Tournament next week, concludes its regular season at 3 p.m. Saturday at the College of Staten Island.
