ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start against rival Daemen University on Wednesday.
The Redhawks took a 2-0 lead on a layup by Paris Anthony 50 seconds into the game, but Daemen (15-4, 10-3 ECC) responded with a 20-0 run and went on to a 65-33 win in an East Coast Conference game at the Voller Athletic Center.
Freshman Riley Childress made 3 of her 5 three-point attempts and led the Redhawks (3-16, 2-10) with 11 points. Junior Georgia Haverlock led Roberts with eight rebounds.
The Redhawks travel to D'Youville for an ECC game at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
