Men's Lacrosse Holds Strong But Falls to No. 1 Le Moyne

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's lacrosse team held the No. 1 team in the country to its second lowest scoring output of the season on Wednesday afternoon, but the Redhawks were unable to upset Le Moyne, falling 11-3.

The Redhawks' defense stood tough throughout the game, led by Parker Bossard, Luke Delavak and Connor Pearce, who combined for eight caused turnovers and eight ground balls.

"I liked our intensity," said head coach Rocky Delfino. "The guys hung together and kept their heads up. They saw that they could play with them for a while, and that's a good thing that will help us down the road."

Roberts jumped out to an early lead just 48 seconds into the contest when Gunner MacMillan buried an over the shoulder shot off a feed from Jordon Deats. Le Moyne took no time to respond to tie the game at 1-1 and followed up with three additional goals to build a 4-1 lead.

MacMillan scored his second goal of the game late in the first quarter, but that would be the last goal the Redhawks would score until the third quarter when Deats found the back of the net for Roberts' final goal of the game.

Le Moyne was led by Ethan Loun, who tallied three goals and an assist.

"This game gives us a chance to grow and learn," Delfino said. "Their goalie stopped a lot of our opportunities and they played well. That's why they are number one in the country and this game was a learning opportunity for us."

Roberts (4-2) will head to Albany, N.Y. on Saturday to take on The College of Saint Rose. Game time is scheduled for noon.
