Two Second-Half Goals Lead Roberts Past STAC

ROCHESTER, NY – Fifth-year player Tamas Nagy scored one goal and assisted on another to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Soccer team to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference (ECC) play on the Redhawks Turf Field.

St. Thomas Aquinas (6-3-2 overall, 1-1-2 ECC) scored early in the contest with a long pass forward to the top of the box where a quick shot found the back of the net to give the Spartans an early 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until late in the second half.

Freshman Sebastian Guerrero came off the bench and a few minutes later found himself on the receiving end of a nifty pass from Nagy allowing him to send a ball into the back of the goal and tie the score at 1-1 with less than 16 minutes remaining in the game.

Just less than two minutes later, Nagy took a pass from junior Jack Hopson and buried his team-leading eighth goal of the season to give the Redhawks a late lead.

"We needed to put more pressure on them in the second half and we stressed that at halftime," said Head Coach Scott Reber. "We knew we needed to make things happen with the added pressure and the guys didn't give up."

Roberts will travel to Vermont to face Saint Michael's and the nation's capital to face the University of the District of Columbia next week.
