AMHERST, NY – Sophomore Myles Palmer produced another multi-goal game for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Soccer team as he netted a pair of goals to lead the Redhawks to a 2-1 win on the road Wednesday over Daemen University in East Coast Conference (ECC) action.
After a scoreless first half, Palmer picked up a rebound of a shot that was mishandled by the goalkeeper and easily tapped in a shot into the open net for the first goal of the game three minutes into the second half.
Less than three minutes later, Palmer put Roberts (4-3-2 overall, 2-1-0 ECC) up 2-0 as he capped a nice passing play with junior Luke Hanes and sophomore Cooper Kerridge setting up Palmer with a perfect pass to the right side of the goal for another shot into the open half of the goal.
Daemen (3-3-2, 0-2-1) was able to cut the lead in half with less than 20 minutes to play but could not find the back of the net for the equalizer.
Roberts held shots advantages of 17-11 (total shots) and 11-4 (shots on goal) as junior goalkeeper Eric Jewson won his third straight game despite allowing a goal for the first time in his career.
The Redhawks return to action Saturday with an ECC game at Mercy with a 12 p.m. start in Dobbs Ferry.
