BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – Archie Murphy scored three goals in the first half as the Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 non-conference victory over Bloomfield College on Monday night.
Myles Palmer and
Noah Balaam also scored for the Redhawks (8-6-1).
Luke Hanes registered two assists for Roberts.
Murphy, a junior forward, opened the scoring in the seventh minute, redirecting a pass from Hanes into the goal from six yards out.
Hanes and Murphy connected again about 12 minutes later as Hanes found Murphy in front for his third goal of the season.
Myles Palmer fired home a one-hop shot from 25 yards out to give the Redhawks a 3-0 lead in the 35
th minute.
Palmer drew a foul in the box three minutes later and Murphy stepped up and calmly placed the ball in the left corner of the net to complete his hat trick.
Balaam completed the scoring with his first goal as a Redhawk in the 89
th minute. The goal came off a restart as Bloomfield keeper Matthew Brun saved a shot by
Micah Cornfield and Balaam headed home the rebound.
Junior
Eric Jewson made two saves while picking up his fourth shutout of the season.
Roberts will wrap up the regular-season with a non-conference game at Saint Anselm College at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Redhawks will host their first game in the East Coast Conference Championship, which begins play on Nov. 9.
