ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Sydney Yanak recorded a team-high 18 kills and added 10 digs for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball team but the Redhawks dropped a 3-1 decision to D'Youville University in the final match of the season.
Roberts (12-13 overall, 3-9 ECC) battled back after falling 25-21 in the opening set to tie the score at one set each with a 25-18 win in the second set. D'Youville (11-15, 7-5 ECC) rallied late to win a close 25-23 third set and then closed out the match by holding off a late Redhawk rally with a 25-22 win in the fourth set.
Yanak led Roberts with her 18 kills and was honored prior to the start of the match with fellow seniors Sarina Pasquantonio, Teagan Weber, Jaycee Karelus and Celine Malosa.
Junior Olivia Price had a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs and fellow junior Caleigh Schroeder recorded 47 assists and 13 digs for her double-double. Weber led the defense with 18 digs and Pasquantonio added 16 for the Redhawks.
Sophomore Camryn Karelus chipped in 11 kills for Roberts.
The Redhawks showed improvement from 2023 when Roberts had eight wins as the team started the season winning eight of the first 10 matches. Roberts posted back-to-back road wins in ECC matches with victories at St. Thomas Aquinas and Mercy in the first weekend of October and added a convincing 3-0 win over Molloy on the road in early November.
