Early Run Downs Women’s Basketball in First Road Game

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Graduate student Georgia Haverlock had team highs with 17 points and five rebounds for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team but a 15-0 run in the first quarter allowed Lock Haven University to build a lead as the Bald Eagles held on for a 65-45 win Saturday in Pennsylvania.

Roberts (0-4) had an early lead at 5-2 but Lock Haven (3-1) went on a 15-0 run to turn the momentum around and held an 18-10 edge after the first 10 minutes of action.

The Redhawks closed the gap to seven points at 26-19 early in the second period on a 3-pointer by senior Lauren McCrea but Lock Haven went on another run and closed out the period on a 9-0 run to take a 35-19 lead into the break.

The Bald Eagles stretched the lead to 19 in the third period closed out the game for the 65-45 win.

Haverlock was 7-for-14 from the field and connected on 2-0f-3 3-point baskets. Senior Marianna Freeman scored eight points and fellow senior Grace Dow grabbed five rebounds.

Roberts returns home to host Cedarville University Wednesday and will play a home game against Lake Erie College Saturday at the Voller Athletic Center.
