ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Jaycee Karelus and sophomore Camryn Karelus teamed for 25 kills with each recording at least a .300 attack percentage for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball team Sunday but the Redhawks let a 2-1 set advantage slip away as Mercy University came back for a 3-2 East Coast Conference (ECC) win at the Voller Athletic Center.
Mercy (12-7 overall, 5-3 ECC) won the opening set 25-20 but Roberts (11-10, 2-6 ECC) rallied to tie the score with a 25-20 win in the second set. The Redhawks took a 2-1 lead with a 25-21 victory in the third set but the Mavericks won the fourth 25-19 and carried the momentum into the fifth for a 15-4 win to seal the victory.
Junior Olivia Price led the offense with 14 kills, Jaycee Karelus added 13 and Camryn Karelus added 12 while senior Sydney Yanak chipped in 10 for Roberts. Jaycee Karelus led the team with a .500 attack percentage with only two error while her sister posted a .308 with four errors on the day.
Junior Caleigh Schroeder handed out 49 assists and senior Teagan Weber led the defense with 24 digs.
The Redhawks hit the road next weekend for a pair of ECC matches at Molloy University Saturday and at Queens College Sunday.
