Second Quarter Run Downs Women’s Basketball against Molloy

ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Erin Frazier came off the bench to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team with 14 points and 14 rebounds but it was not enough as visiting Molloy used a pivotal run to start the second quarter to take a 73-52 East Coast Conference (ECC) victory Sunday at the Voller Athletic Center.

The Redhawks (0-11 overall, 0-4 ECC) surrendered the first four points of the game but responded with a 15-0 run to take a double-digit lead. Molloy scored the final four points of the quarter to end the first 10 minutes of the contest down by seven points at 15-8.

Senior Grace Dow opened the second quarter with a basket for the Redhawks but Molloy answered with a 16-2 run to take control of the game and open a 24-19 lead.

The teams traded baskets down the stretch and Molloy took a 33-26 edge into the halftime intermission.

The Lions added to the lead with the first eight points of the second half.

Frazier scored seven of the final nine points of the quarter for the Redhawks and Molloy led by 17 points at 54-37 after three quarters of action and the Lions maintained the advantage for the remainder of the game.

Frazier led Roberts in both points (14) and rebounds (14), Dow added 10 points and seven rebounds and senior Lauren McCrea chipped in nine points on three 3-pointers.

Roberts is now off for the semester break and will return to action January 8 at Felician University and play at home January 13 against Seton Hill.
