Doviak Scores Six Goals As Redhawks Roll To Opening Win

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Senior Dan Doviak scored six goals as the Roberts Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team rolled to a 15-6 victory over Dominican University of New York in its season opener on Saturday.
"It's nice to open the season with a win and it's always good to win on the road," Roberts coach Rocky Delfino. "We also have some things to work on, so hopefully we can work the kinks out."
Doviak, who equaled his career high, scored four consecutive goals in a 7:28 span of the second quarter to give the Redhawks a 10-1 lead at the half. He also registered three assists while scoring a career-high nine points.
"He had a good day," Delfino said.
Senior Jordon Deats scored three goals and junior Gunner MacMillan added two goals and an assist as Roberts' starting attack accounted for 11 goals.
Senior Luke Delavak added a goal and two assists while midfielders Jacob Zimmerman and Justin Skelly each contributed a goal and an assist. Ethan Brown also scored a goal.
Sophomore Garrett Kayser made 15 saves in goal and sophomore Brady Kustra led the Redhawks with six ground balls and five turnovers caused.
"I thought the defense played well," Delfino added.
Roberts hosts No. 15 Seton Hill in its home opener at noon on Feb. 17.
