Redhawks Defeat STAC for Sixth Straight Win

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse picked up their sixth straight win on Saturday and stayed perfect in East Coast Conference play after taking down St. Thomas Aquinas, 20-1 at home on Redhawks Field.

Roberts is now 9-5 overall and 5-0 in the ECC with two games remaining in the regular season. Roberts will travel to a non-conference game on Tuesday at Post University before returning home for the headlined match of the season on Friday, when the Redhawks face Mercy to potentially decide the ECC regular season champions and No. 1 seed in postseason play.

Emma Blumenstock had a team-high eight points in the win with four goals and four assists. Annie Mulhall had four goals and two assists and both Kadie Tierney and Sophia Podszebka scored five points on three goals and two assists to round out the top offensive performers for the Redhawks.

Junior goalkeeper Shawna Lesmerises made four saves on the day and now has 201 total career saves to put her fourth all-time in the Roberts record books. Freshman goalkeeper Grace Keenan subbed in at the half and made four saves.

Roberts' defense allowed just 10 shots and 10 successful clears for the Spartans. Senior Madelyn Robinson had two caused turnovers, one ground ball and five draw controls.

STAC scored its lone goal of the game late in the fourth quarter from Ella Entress.

Roberts' away game at Post will be played Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Redhawks will then host Mercy on Friday at 4 p.m.
