Volleyball Splits Matches in Vermont

COLCHESTER, VT – Senior Sydney Yanak led the Roberts Wesleyan Women's Volleyball team with 19 kills in the first match and added seven more in the second match of the day as the Redhawks split a Sunday afternoon tri-match with a 3-1 win over St. Michael's and a 3-0 loss to Post.

Roberts (8-3) won the first two sets against St. Michaels (2-6) 25-19 and 25-18 before the Purple Knights rebounded for a 25-12 win in the third set. The Redhawks wrapped up the match with a strong finish in a 26-24 fourth set win.

In the Post (5-5) match, the Eagles won in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-17.

Yanak had a pair of kills late in the first set to cap the opening win. She finished with 19 kills and 12 digs.

In the second set, Roberts put together a key mid-set run scoring 10-of-11 points to open up a close set and surge ahead 17-6 before cruising to the 2-0 lead in the match.  

After falling in the third set, Roberts rebounded to come from behind for the match victory.

Junior Olivia Price had a double-double with 16 kills and 15 digs and fellow junior Caleigh Schroeder had a double-double as well with 41 assists and 27 digs. Sisters, Camryn Karelus and Jaycee Karelus combined for 16 kills.

Against Post, Yanak and Camryn Karelus had seven kills each and Price added six kills and eight digs. Schroeder handed out 24 assists and had nine digs. Junior Teagan Weber led the defense with 14 digs.
