BUFFALO, NY – Sophomore Trevor Heitkamp paced the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Cross Country team Saturday as the Redhawks ran the final race leading up to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships.
Heitkamp placed 13th overall in a field of 182 runners with several representing NCAA Division I programs. He completed the 8K course in a time of 25:51.2 as he led the Redhawks to a fifth-place team finish.
Division I Binghamton won the team title with a score of 40 points followed by Detroit Mercy (70 points), SUNY Geneseo (72), Canisius (118) and Roberts (126). The Redhawks finished ahead of LeMoyne (167), Buffalo State (187), Niagara (226), Alfred State (316), SUNY ESF (317), SUNY Oswego (368) and Daemen (402).
Sophomore Jakob Zibbel and freshman Joel Amstutz were next to finish for Roberts as the duo placed 25th and 26th respectively with times of 26:32.5 and 26:35.1. Junior Vincent Ciraolo finished 28th in 26:44.4 and sophomore Charles Matzke rounded out the scoring for the Redhawks as he placed 34th with a time of 26:59.4.
Roberts will compete next Saturday at the ECC Championships in Kings Park, NY.
