Early Lead Slips Away from Women’s Volleyball

LOCK HAVEN, PA – Freshman Tiana Copp recorded a team-leading 15 kills and the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball took an early lead winning the first two sets but dropped the match 3-2 as Lock Haven University rebounded for the victory.

Roberts (2-18) won the first two sets with 25-22 and 25-22 scores but Lock Haven (7-14) rallied for a 25-19 win in the third set and added a 25-16 win in the fourth set to force the tie breaker set. The Bald Eagles took an early lead and held off a late Redhawks rally for a 15-11 win in the fifth set to take the match.

Copp led the Redhawks with 15 kills and four aces and added eight digs in the match. Fellow freshman Ryan Hull chipped in nine kills and led the team with 19 defensive digs. Junior Julia Dufková had 17 digs.

Freshman Sierra George handed out 33 assists.

Roberts continues the Pennsylvania road trip with a match at Bloomsburg University at 12 p.m. Sunday.
