Early Goals Power Redhawks Past Daemen

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team scored twice in the first 16 minutes and hung on for a 2-1 victory over Daemen in an East Coast Conference match on Wednesday.

Junior Takumi Horan opened the scoring, sending a 22-yard direct kick through a four-man wall and into the net in the 10th minute for his first career collegiate goal.

Junior Ewan O'Dwyer-Hall doubled the lead for the unbeaten Redhawks (7-0-4, 3-0-1), knocking home a cross from Sebastian Guerrero at the 15:21 mark.

Senior Eric Jewson, the reigning ECC Defensive Player of the Week, made five saves for Roberts, which played the final 58:10 a man down due to a red card.

Daemen scored its goal in the 42nd minute and had some quality chances in the second half but could not net the equalizer.

The Redhawks will travel to Molloy for an ECC match at noon on Saturday.
