BUFFALO, NY – The Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball team fell in a thrilling opening set Wednesday night and dropped a 3-0 decision at D'Youville University in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match that eliminated the Redhawks from the ECC Tournament contention.
D'Youville (10-15 overall, 5-7 ECC) escaped with a 28-26 win in the opening set and then won 25-17 and 25-12 to finish the match.
A kill by freshman Rachel Dixon in the first set gave Roberts (4-23, 4-7 ECC) a 24-22 lead and set point in the opener but the Saints rallied to tie the set at 24-24. The teams traded points as freshman Tiana Copp and Dixon added kills to giver the Redhawks a 26-25 edge before the Saints score the final three points of the set to take the early lead in the match.
Roberts led 12-10 in the second set before D'Youville went on a 9-1 run to take a 19-13 lead and secured the 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-17 win. The Saints used a couple early runs to take control of the final set to clinch the match.
The loss dropped the Redhawks to fifth place in the ECC standings and out of contention for the fourth, and final ECC Tournament playoff spot.
Roberts will wrap up the 2025 schedule Saturday at home against Daemen with a Senior Day Match at noon in the Voller Athletic Center.
