QUEENS, NY – Junior Zhara Adeyemi led the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team with 13 points but was the lone player to reach double-figures scoring as the Redhawks dropped a 59-45 decision on the road Sunday in an East Coast Conference (ECC) game at Queens College.
Roberts (2-6 overall, 0-2 ECC) shot well in the opening quarter (5-for-11 and 45%) and held a lead late in the first quarter before Queens (4-7, 1-2 ECC) rallied for the final five points in the period to lead 19-15 after the first 10 minutes.
The Redhawks were limited to just 12 field goals the rest of the game and scored less than 10 points in the second quarter and the fourth quarter in the loss.
The team finished 17-for-64 (26.6 %) from the field including just 6-for-22 from 3pt range.
Adeyemi led the Redhawks with her 13 points while freshmen Jada Mushat (9 points) and Aniyah Jones (8 points) nearly reached double-figures.
Senior Cristina Gonzalez-Simarro Rubio and sophomore Erin Frazier led the team with 12 rebounds each while sophomore Meaghan Doherty had team highs with three assists and four steals.
The Redhawks will finish the first semester schedule with a road game Thursday at Lake Erie College in Ohio.
