EMORY, Va. – Ten different players scored goals as the Roberts Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team rolled to a 17-1 non-conference win over Emory & Henry on Monday.
Sophomore
Ryan Brown and junior
Curtis Denison led the way for the Redhawks (1-1) with six points apiece. Brown scored four goals and added two assists while Denison finished with two goals and four assists.
Freshman
Chase Wilson added three goals and junior
Justin Skelly found the net twice.
Cody Coleman,
Jacob Zimmerman,
Sean Levey,
Colton Ugine,
Tyler Clark and
Jack Donovan also scored for Roberts.
Coleman and
Killian Ceci each registered two assists for the Redhawks, who held a 29-15 advantage in shots on goal. Roberts led 6-0 after the first quarter and 11-1 at the half.
Junior
Isaac Marrero won 11 of 15 face-offs and led Roberts with seven ground balls. Defender
Liam Linden added six ground balls and caused four turnovers.
Garrett Kayser made six saves in 45 three quarters of action while freshman
Landon Brimmer stopped eight shots in the fourth quarter for Roberts.
Several players missed the game due to illness.
The Redhawks have canceled Wednesday's game at Virginia State and will host Walsh University Feb. 26 in the home opener on Redhawks Turf Field.
