Kleitz and Brooks Lead Roberts in Regular Season Home Finale

ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Trey Kleitz scored 18 points and graduate student Malik Brooks added a game-high 24 points to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Basketball team to a convincing 69-55 win over D'Youville University Wednesday night in East Coast Conference (ECC) action and the final regular season home game for the Redhawks.

With the win, Roberts (10-15 overall, 7-8 ECC) clinched a spot in the upcoming ECC Tournament.

Kleitz hit three 3-pointers in a key stretch early in the first half as Roberts built an 11-point lead midway through the period.

The sophomore connected on a 3-pointer at the 13:12 mark, added a layup 1:30 later for a six-point advantage. Senior Jermaine Taggart II scored a layup to extend the lead before Kleitz had a steal and then another 3-pointer to push the Roberts lead to 24-13 with 10:07 left in the half.

Brooks score 11 points in the final eight minutes of the half to help the Redhawks build a 20-point lead at 42-22 as the first half came to an end.

A layup by Brooks with six minutes remaining gave Roberts a 22-point lead and Roberts eventually went home with the 14-point victory.

Brooks led all scorers with 24 points and moved past 1,300 career points at Roberts.

Kleitz had 18 points off the bench with 4-for-5 shooting from beyond the 3-point line and junior Arnardo Camacho finished with a near-triple double with seven points, nine rebounds and a game-high 16 rebounds.

Roberts will finish the regular season Saturday at Daemen University and the ECC Tournament begins March 5.
