MANCHESTER, N.H. – A high-scoring first half turned into a defensive struggle in the second half as the Roberts Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team fell to No. 24 Saint Anselm College 15-12 in a non-conference game on Friday afternoon.
Roberts (0-3) fell behind 4-1 in the first quarter before scoring four times in a span of 2:52 in the second quarter to take a 9-7 lead. Saint Anselm responded with a pair of goals to make it 9-9 at the half.
Kadie Tierney and
Annie Mulhall scored in the first 3:22 of the third quarter but Saint Anselm outscored Roberts 6-1 the rest of the way.
Mulhall and
Emma Blumenstock both scored three goals and Tierney added two for Roberts.
Alison Dioguardi added a goal and an assist and
Ella Dossier totaled two assists for the Redhawks.
Emma Taylor,
Lia MacDougall and
Gianna Parise also had goals for Roberts. Taylor added six draw controls.
Shawna Lesmerises made 11 saves for the Redhawks, who will wrap up their weekend road trip with a game at Southern New Hampshire University at noon on Sunday.
