HOOKSETT, NH – Senior Emma Blumenstock scored six times and fellow senior Annie Mulhall scored five times for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Lacrosse team but the Redhawks dropped a 19-12 decision on the road against Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon.
After junior Ella Dossier led off the game with her first goal of the season for Roberts (0-4) the Patriots (1-1) rattled off three consecutive goals in a span of just two minutes to take a lead.
Blumenstock scored her first goal of the game to stop the run but SNHU answered with another three-goal in two-minute run to take a 6-2 edge.
Mulhall scored at the end of the quarter to cut the lead to three.
The teams traded goals to start the second period as Blumenstock scored her second goal of the game but SNHU went on another three-goal run to extend the lead to 10-4.
The teams traded goals through the end of the second quarter and into the third as Blumenstock added three goals to her total.
The Patriots scored the final three goals of the third quarter to take a 16-7 lead into the final period.
Mulhall scored four times in a 4-2 scoring run for the Redhawks but the rally ran out of time and Blumenstock scored late in the final quarter for the final score.
On the day, Blumenstock finished with 11 points on six goals and five assists while Mulhall added five goals and Dossier added a goal and an assist for Roberts.
After starting the season with four straight road games with three against nationally-ranked opponents, Roberts returns home and will have its Home Opener Saturday against American International.
