QUEENS, NY – Graduate student Georgia Haverlock led the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team with 22 points as the Redhawks closed to within four points at the end of three quarters and trailed by just seven points late in the game but Queens College held on with strong free throw shooting for a 77-66 win Friday night in an East Coast Conference (ECC) road game.
Roberts (2-17 overall, 2-9 ECC) led 52-47 late in the third quarter but Queens (8-11, 3-6 ECC) scored the final six points of the period to take the slim lead into the final quarter.
The Knights continued the run into the fourth quarter starting the period with an 8-1 run to open up a double-digit lead.
Junior Marianna Freeman hit a layup to trim the lead to seven and later connected on a pair of free throws to cut the lead to seven again with 1:46 to play.
Queens sealed the win with perfect free throw shooting down the stretch.
Haverlock led Roberts with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field including three 3-pointers. Freeman added 14 points, freshman Erin Frazier added 12 points off the bench and freshman Meaghan Doherty added 10 points for the Redhawks.
Roberts continues the ECC road trip with a game at Molloy Sunday.
