SPARKILL, NY – Senior Annie Mulhall scored six goals, junior Kadie Tierney and freshman Lia MacDougall added four goals each to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Lacrosse team to a convincing 18-4 East Coast Conference (ECC) victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday afternoon.
Roberts (4-6 overall, 3-0 ECC) scored the first 13 goals of the game including a 9-0 first quarter score. Mulhall netted four of the first 13 goals while MacDougall, Tierney and senior Tannah O'Neill-Blake added two goals each in the opening run.
STAC (3-6, 0-2 ECC) scored its first goal with two seconds left in the first half.
The Redhawks opened the third quarter with goals by Tierney and MacDougall and after the Spartans scored a second goal, Tierney closed out the quarter with her fourth of the game.
MacDougall and Mulhall added fourth quarter goals for Roberts.
Mulhall finished with eight points on six goals and two assists and Tierney added six points with her four goals and two assists. Senior Emma Blumenstock chipped in a goal and five assists for six points. MacDougall added four ground balls, two caused turnovers and seven draw controls.
Senior Shawna Lesmerises, sophomore Grace Keenan and freshman Kendall Smith combined for three saves in the Roberts net.
The Redhawks will play non-conference foe University of Bridgeport next Sunday (April 5) on the road before finishing the regular season with conference games against District of Columbia, Daemen and Mercy.
