ROCHESTER, NY –In a battle of undefeated teams Sunday, both walked remained unbeaten as the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Soccer team rallied for a 2-2 tie with St. Anselm College in a non-conference battle on the Redhawks Turf Field.
St. Anselm (2-0-3) took the early lead with a pair of goals in a span 1:30 in the first half to take an early 2-0 lead. The first goal came on a penalty kick 7:17 into the contest.
Sophomore Sebastian Guerrero registered his second goal of the season with just 39 seconds remaining in the first half on a pass from senior Iann Briones to cut the lead in half for Roberts (3-0-1).
Late in the second half, junior Archie Murphy picked up a loose at the top of the box after a collision and turned to create some space before launching a shot into the corner of the goal for the game-tying goal.
The Redhawks had a majority of the offensive pressure over the final 10 minutes but could not take the lead.
Shots were nearly even with Roberts holding a 12-11 edge and St. Anselm had five corners compared to three for Roberts.
The Redhawks return to action Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. match at home against Slippery Rock University.
