Redhawks Tie Slippery Rock to Remain Unbeaten

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team tied Slippery Rock University 1-1 in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon to remain unbeaten on the season.

Sophomore Sebastian Guerrero opened the scoring for the Redhawks (3-0-2) when he finished a cross from Archie Murphy in the 33rd minute.

Iann Briones set up the play with an initial pass to Murphy and Guererro finished it for his third goal of the season and second in as many matches.

Senior Conlan McCoy was hauled down in the box in the 52nd minute, but Roberts was unable to convert the penalty kick.

Slippery Rock (2-1-1) tied the game in the 58th minute and both teams generated scoring chances down the stretch.

Senior Eric Jewson made four saves for Roberts and Luke Hanes, Takumi Horan and Briones had strong defensive games for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks, who are ranked ninth in the NCAA Division II East Region, will open East Coast Conference play at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the College of Staten Island.
