ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Eric Jewson made seven saves including four in the second half and junior Archie Murphy scored a pair of goals as the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Soccer team came from behind to salvage a 3-3 tie with Georgian Court Thursday afternoon on the Redhawks Turf Field.
Murphy opened the scoring for Roberts (4-0-3) just 4:19 into the contest as he finished a nice cro9ssing pass from senior Conlon McCoy.
Georgian Court (0-4-3) answered five minutes later to even the score at 1-1 and took a 2-1 advantage two minutes late for a one-goal lead 11:23 into the game.
Just over five minutes later, Murphy added his second goal of the game and team-leading seventh goal of the season to knot the score at 2-2 with an assist going to senior Jack Hopson.
Georgian Court took another lead late in the first half as the Lions took a 3-2 lead into the halftime intermission.
Both teams had good scoring chances in the second half but Jewson was on top of his game with several key stops to keep the game close.
Senior Luke Hanes finished a corner kick from junior Cooper Kerridge as the Redhawks tied the score 15 minutes into the second stanza.
Neither team could score the rest of the way as the game ended in a 3-3 draw.
Roberts is back in action Saturday at 3:30 p.m. as the Redhawks host East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent D'Youville on Homecoming Weekend and Senior Day at Roberts Stadium.
