HONOLULU, HI – Freshman Jordan Hoover recorded a match-high four blocks for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team but the Redhawks fell for the first time in 2026 with a 3-0 decision at the University of Hawaii Wednesday in the first of two matches in Hawaii.
The Rainbows, ranked No. 3 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll, won a close 25-21 set in the opener and then used mid-set runs to win 25-17 and 25-16 to close out the match in straight sets.
Sophomore Ryan DeJohn led Roberts (2-1) with eight kills, two aces and six digs. Fellow sophomore Patrick Bodecker added six kills and a .333 attack percentage.
Sophomore Landon Brouwer had 21 assists and three digs while senior Moises Jimenez and DeJohn led the Redhawks with six digs each. Hoover finished with three kills and four blocks.
Roberts will wrap up the longest road trip in school history with a second match against Hawaii late Friday night with a match that starts a midnight Eastern time (7 p.m. Hawaii time).
