Volleyball Drops ECC Weekend Finale to Molloy

ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Ryan Hull handed out a team-leading 23 assists and was one of three players with two aces each for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Volleyball team but late rallies in each of the three sets led to a 3-0 loss to Molloy University Sunday afternoon to complete the weekend of East Coast Conference (ECC) matches.

Molloy (8-12 overall, 3-3 ECC) won the match by set scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-20.

Roberts (3-16, 1-5 ECC) rallied late in the first set with five out of six points to trim the Molloy lead to 21-16 but the Lions responded with the final four points for the early lead in the match. In the second set, the Redhawks jumped out to an early 6-0 lead but Molloy battled back to tie the score at 10-10. The score was tied at 17-17 before the Lions rallied for eight of the final nine points for the 25-18 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Redhawks had leads of 7-4, 10-7 and 13-10 but a 7-0 rally gave Molloy a 17-13 edge. Roberts trimmed the lead to a point at 19-18 and 21-20 before the Lions rallied for the final four points and the match win.

Senior Camryn Karelus led the team with nine kills, Hull added her 23 assists and two aces along with freshmen Faith Pasquantonio and Alyssa Snary who each added two aces for the Redhawks. Freshman Emerson Ramsdale finished with nine digs for the defense.

Roberts returns to action next weekend for a pair of ECC matches on the road at Mercy University and St. Thomas Aquinas College Saturday and Sunday.
