ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Jada Mushat scored 16 points and sophomore Erin Frazier added 14 for he Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Basketball team Friday night but a 22-8 deficit in the second quarter gave Molloy University a big lead and the Lions held on for an 85-65 win.
Roberts (4-14 overall, 1-9 ECC) trailed by nine points after the first 10 minutes of action but the big second quarter gave Molloy (10-14, 8-4 ECC) a commanding 48-23 lead at the break.
The Lions extended the lead slightly in the third period and the Redhawks rallied in the final period with a 24-15 scoring edge but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit.
Mushat led Roberts with her 16 points while Frazier added 14 and was tied with freshman Aniyah Jones with the team lead with seven rebounds. Jones, sophomore Renee Anglin and freshman Sarah Seyfang each scored seven points for Roberts.
The Redhawks resume the ECC home weekend series with a 2 p.m. game Sunday against Queens College.
