Redhawks Rally But Can't Overcome Queens

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University women's basketball team displayed resilience on Sunday afternoon, cutting an 18-point third-quarter deficit to seven points before ultimately falling to Queens College, 65-58, in an East Coast Conference game at the Voller Athletic Center.

Freshman Jada Mushat scored eight of her 16 points in the final 12:09 as the Redhawks (4-16, 1-1 ECC) closed the game on a 24-13 run. Mushat added eight steals as Roberts forced 19 turnovers.

Aniyah Jones scored 11 points and Erin Frazier and Cristina Gonzalez-Simarro Rubio both added nine for the Redhawks. Simarro and Sarah Seyfang contributed nine rebounds apiece.

The Redhawks were hindered by a slow start as they shot 20.6% (6 of 29) from the field in the first half.

The Redhawks will host the University of the District of Columbia in an ECC game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
