Bowling Ends Season at ECC Tournament

HACKENSACK, NJ – The Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Bowling team defeated St. Thomas Aquinas College Friday in the first round of the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament but dropped a pair of matches to D'Youville University and was eliminated from the double-elimination Championship format tournament.

Roberts opened the morning session with a tight 4-3 loss to D'Youville. The Redhawks took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Baker format matchup with a 151-105 win in the first game. The Saints rebounded for a 223-126 win to even the score but Roberts took a 2-1 edge with a 155-140 win in the third game.

D'Youville won the next two games before Roberts evented the match at 3-3 with an impressive 213-161 win to force the seventh game. The Saints advanced in the bracket with a 188-146 win in the deciding game and Roberts dropped into the consolation half of the bracket and a matchup against St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Against the Spartans, Roberts cruised to a 4-0 win with scores of 178-112, 159-112, 144-128 and 165-104.

The victory moved the Redhawks on to the next round and a rematch with D'Youville who dropped a 4-1 decision to Adelphi in the top half of the bracket.

The Redhawks opened with a win in the first game again by a 160-146 score and the Saints tied the match with a 190-136 win in game two.

Roberts took a 2-1 lead in the series with a high-scoring win at 210-200 but D'Youville won three straight games to close out the match and eliminate the Redhawks from the 2026 Championship Tournament.
