ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team jumped to an early lead, but Dominican rallied past the Redhawks 11-7 in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman
Brooke Guelli opened the game by scoring four goals in 11:41 and
Alison Dioguardi scored to give the Redhawks a 5-0 advantage with 2:34 to play in the first quarter.
Dominican scored the next five goals before freshman
Erica Savage found the back of the net with two seconds remaining in the second quarter to give Roberts (1-6) a 6-5 advantage at the half.
The Chargers (5-3) outscored the Redhawks 6-1 in the second half to secure the victory.
Guelli finished with a career-high four goals, including two player-up goals, while Dioguardi, Savage and
Kadie Tierney each scored one.
Senior
Ella Dossier registered four assists and Savage contributed two for the Redhawks. Tierney collected three ground balls and caused two turnovers and Dioguardi secured 12 draw controls.
Freshman
Josella Harrison made a career-high 12 saves for Roberts.
The Redhawks continue a stretch of three straight games on the road on Wednesday at the University of Wilmington.
