Redhawks Notch Second Straight Victory

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Freshman Nixon Karcz established career highs with six goals and eight points as the Roberts Wesleyan University men's lacrosse team defeated the University of the District of Columbia 24-6 in an East Coast Conference game on Saturday afternoon.

Karcz scored three goals in each half as the Redhawks (3-5, 1-1 ECC) overcame an early two goal deficit by closing the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 13-4 lead at the break.

Sophomores Chase Wilson scored five goals and classmate Cody Coleman contributed two goals and three assists. Colin Duncan scored three goals and John Orsborne and Ryan Brown each added two.

Isaac Marrero, Jett Richardson, Killian Ceci and Preston Steve also scored for Roberts. The Redhawks scored five man-down goals in the game. Steve added two assists as did Sam Keens and Colton Ugine.

Roberts dominated the game with 54 ground balls. Marrero led the way with 15 and Anthony Vitale added six. Marrero won 15 of 21 face-offs and Vitale went 10-for-12.

Sophomore Landon Brimmer, senior Garrett Kayser and freshman Julien Montalvo all saw action in goal for the Redhawks.

The Redhawks will host Mercy at noon on Saturday on FaceOff Against Cancer Day.
