Flag Football Remains Unbeaten with 13-0 Road Win

ERIE, PA – Sophomore Aimee Turner ran for one touchdown and freshman Isabella Foggetti caught a scoring pass to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Flag Football team to another shutout victory as the Redhawks posted a 13-0 win Sunday at Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania.

On a cold and windy day, all of the scoring came in the second half as both Roberts (9-0) and Mercyhurst (9-4) traded possessions in the first two quarters.

In the third quarter, the Redhawks started with the ball and put together the longest drive of the game with a 10-play drive that lasted nearly eight minutes and was capped by a 20-yard run around the right side to break the scoreless tie. A successful point-after gave Roberts a 7-0 lead.

In the fourth quarter, another long drive for the Redhawks ended with a little bit of trickery as Foggetti snapped the ball and then ran up the middle of the field and into the endzone where sophomore Anna Varland completed a 15-yard scoring pass and Roberts surged ahead 13-0.

The Redhawks defense held the Lakers in check the entire game allowing just 45 rushing yards and only 76 passing yards with three intercepted passes. Sophomore Aaliyah McCoy led the team with eight tackles, two for loss and a sack while Turner finished with a pair of tackles and a pair of interceptions.

Roberts will host Villa Maria College in a pair of games Friday night with game one starting at 5:30 p.m. on Redhawks Turf Field.
