Box Score ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Barbora Fronkova finished with five receptions for 102 yards and a TD on offense and contributed five tackles with an interception and two pass breakups to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Flag Football team to a 26-19 win over Villa Maria and the final home game of the season.
Fronkova was one of three seniors honored before the game with Cristina Simarro and Laura Granada. The trio combined for 14 tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups to lead the Redhawks defense to an 11th consecutive victory.
The streak of seven consecutive shutout wins was stopped as Villa Maria scored early in the second quarter to take a 7-6 lead. It was the first time all season that the Redhawks had trailed in a game.
Late in the second quarter, quarterback Aimee Turner found Fronkova in the back of the endzone for a 10-yard scoring pass as Roberts regained the lead at 13-7.
The Vikings threatened late in the first half but a sack by Aaliyah McCoy stopped a drive and took the game into the halftime intermission with Roberts holding the slim advantage.
Villa Maria tied the game at 13-13 in the third quarter but sophomore Anna Varland connected on a pass to Turner for a 17-yard scoring play as Roberts regained the lead at 20-13.
On the final drive of the third quarter, the Vikings scored again but the extra point attempt failed as the Redhawks held a 20-19 edge.
A drive that started deep in the Villa Maria end of the field ended on downs before the Vikings could gain a first down and three plays later Turner ran into the end zone on a one yard scamper for the 26-19 lead with 7:26 left on the clock.
Another sack by McCoy ended the next Villa Maria drive and the final Viking drive ended on a failed fourth down play as Roberts ran out the clock for the win.
Turner finished with 101 yards passing and two scores while also running 18 times for 88 yards and another score. Varland was 7-for-11 passing for 91 yards and a TD.
Roberts will finish its first season of Flag Football Wednesday night at Brockport for the first Mark's Pizzeria Cup Challenge game in Brockport.
