Volleyball Pulls Away to Advance to Championship Match

ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Ryan DeJohn had 12 kills and freshman Jordan Hoover added 10 kills and five blocks to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team to a 3-0 win over American International College Friday in the first of two East Coast Conference (ECC) Championship Tournament semifinal matches at the Voller Athletic Center.

With the win, Roberts (19-10) advanced to play St. Thomas Aquinas for the ECC Championship Tournament title at 2 p.m. Saturday after the Spartnas defeated Dominican University 3-0.

Against American International (2-23), the Redhawks posted set score wins of 25-19, 28-26 and 25-9.

DeJohn added a .526 attack percentage while Hoover, who was announced Thursday as the ECC Rookie of the Year, had a .769 average with his 10 kills, zero errors on 13 total attacks.

Sophomore Landon Brouwer, who was named the ECC Setter of the Year, handed out 32 assists and senior Moises Jimenez, who earned the ECC Libero of the Year award, led the team with 11 digs.

Freshman Jayce Moore chipped in seven kills, three digs and a team-leading three aces.
