ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team staged an intense rally in the late stages of the match but was unable to overcome visiting Daemen, falling 3-1 in an East Coast Conference game on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats used two first-half goals and a converted penalty kick in the 57
th minute to build a 3-0 lead, but the Redhawks (1-5-2, 0-2 ECC) applied strong offensive pressure the rest of the way.
After several close calls, Roberts broke through on a goal by senior
Takumi Horan with 7:56 remaining. Freshman
Landon Ambeau crossed the ball to Horan for the assist.
Roberts continued its offensive surge, but was unable to find the back of the net a second time. The Redhawks had 12 corner kicks in the match, including nine in the second half.
Senior
Juan Daniel Espinosa Rubio made three saves in goal for Roberts.
The Redhawks return to action on Homecoming Weekend when they host the College of Staten Island at 4 p.m. on Senior Day.
