Redhawks Shut Out CSI To Win On Senior Day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Juniors Sam Cipolla and Mackenzie Hagen scored first-half goals to carry the Roberts Wesleyan University women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over the College of Staten Island in an East Coast Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

Cipolla opened the scoring in the 15th minute, converting an assist from senior Miah Lathrop for her sixth goal of the season to give the Redhawks (5-1-4, 1-1 ECC) the early advantage.

Hagen broke in alone and scored her second goal of the season in the 41st minute.

Roberts, which held a 19-6 advantage in shots, controlled play throughout the Senior Day game, which was part of Homecoming Weekend.

Senior Rebecca Hoffman made three saves while recording her fourth shutout of the season.

Prior to the game, Roberts honored Hoffman and Lathrop along with fellow seniors Adria Ariola, Nevaeh Bunch, Jenna Northup and Kaidyn Thompson.

The Redhawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, for an ECC match at Mercy.
