Biography
Scholastically: At Enfield High School, Despard was the recipient of the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award and was selected to the North Central Connecticut Conference All Conference Team in 2006-2007. Curt averaged 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots per game his senior year. Despard was also a standout volleyball player where he was selected to the Connecticut High School All State Class M Volleyball Team.
After playing volleyball his first year at Elms College, Despard transferred to Roberts Wesleyan and played in all 27 games in 08-09 where he averaged over 5 points and 5 rebounds per game and blocked 36 shots. Curt was able to start in 15 games and helped solidify the center position while gaining valuable experience. Last season Curt played a backup role at the center position. Despard shot over 57% from the floor, was third on the team in blocked shots, and graded out as the fifth ranked player in our value points system last season.
Over the summer, Despard hit the weights hard and added strength and bulk to his 6’9 frame.
Curt is a Physical Education Major.
