Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks

Co-captain Gisela Ocasio is returning for her senior year with the Redhawks. In 2011, as an outside hitter, she led the team in kills with 342, averaging 3.05 per set. She had 25 service aces and 365 digs. She was  named to the NAIA American Mideast Conference First Team and the NCCAA East Region Second Team.
 
In her freshman season at Roberts Wesleyan College, Gisela played in 135 sets. She totaled 290 kills, averaging 2.15 kills per set, 28 service aces, and 453 digs. “G” began playing volleyball at the age of 5 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She moved to Watertown, NY with her mother, Audrey Quinones, and sisters Johanna and Amanda, four years ago. Though she only had minimal knowledge of English upon her arrival, Gisela dedicated herself to academics and was accepted into both the National Honors Society and the National Technical Honors Society.
Gisela is majoring in both Pre-Medicine and Contemporary Ministries at Roberts.  At Watertown High School, where Gisela was a starting outside hitter, she was named Section III Player of the Year in 2007-2008 and Section III All-Star in 2008-2009. She broke the school’s single season kill record in 2007-2008 with 255, and followed that with 251 in 2008-2009, totaling and impressive 506 kills in two seasons. Gisela led the Watertown High School varsity team to victory in the Sectional Championships in 2007-2008 and to the semi-finals in 2008-2009.
