Rocky Delfino

Rocky Delfino enters his 13th season at Roberts Wesleyan University looking to build off the most successful men’s lacrosse season in program history.

Delfino, who was hired to start the men’s program in 2011 and coached the first game in Roberts’ history in 2012, led the Redhawks to a 10-5 record in 2022 that included a second straight trip to the East Coast Conference (ECC) semifinals.

Roberts had a solid 7-5 campaign in 2021 that saw the Redhawks earn the first postseason victory in program history, a 19-8 win over Molloy College in the ECC semifinals to give Delfino his 50th career victory while advancing to the ECC Championship Game for the first time.

The Redhawks, who went 4-3 in the shortened 2020 campaign, are also looking to register their fourth straight winning season. Roberts was picked to finish third in the 2023 ECC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Delfino spent nine years as head coach of the Monroe Community College men's lacrosse team before coming to Roberts. Delfino amassed an overall winning record of 105-32 with the Tribunes and was named Region III Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2005. He was also named NJCAA National Coach of the Year in 2005. He was inducted into the MCC Sports Hall of Fame in 2018.

Lacrosse runs deep in the Delfino household. Delfino's son, Rocky, was a four-year player and two-time captain at Roberts. He is now the Redhawks’ defensive coordinator. His daughter, Debra, was named the head women’s lacrosse coach at Post University on Jan. 26, 2022. His wife Andrea is involved with running team tailgates and planning player/family activities for the Redhawks.

Along with his head coaching responsibilities, Coach Delfino is also an assistant professor at MCC and Roberts.
