Volleyball Split Matches in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa (October 15, 2011) - The Volleyball team played two matches in Pittsburgh today. The Raiders defeated Carlow University 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 25-11, 25-12) and lost to Point Park University 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 26-24).

The Raiders played competitively against a talented Point Park team. "Playing well against Point Park was important heading into the final 3 conference matches before playoffs," said Coach Jon Meyers. "We held the lead in the third set for the majority of the time, but weren't able to hang on to the lead at the end."

Lisa Bierdeman led the way with 74 total assists and 20 digs. Gisela Ocasio extended her team lead in kills adding 25 on the day to go with 29 digs. Kendall Havener had 21 kills and 11 total blocks in two matches. Senior captain Katie Maher had 30 total digs on the day.

The Raiders are now 15-8 overall and 3-4 in American Mideast Conference action.

the team continues it's road trip next Saturday when they travel to North Canton, OH to face conference leaders Walsh University.
