ROCHESTER, N.Y. (January 20, 2012) – The Women's Basketball team crusied to a 71-59 win over Carlow University this evening in the Voller Athletic Center.
Coming into the game, the Raiders had lost three of their last four and needed a win in the American Mideast Conference.
The Raiders took control early after 12-0 run.
Sarah Child would make a lay-up to bring the score to 22-6 with only nine minutes into the game.
The home team would cruise into halftime with a 41-24 halftime lead.
Going into the lockeroom, Child led all scorers with 10 points. In all, seven Raiders had scored as the team shot 51.6% from the field.
Carlow would make it close in the second half, Heather Kaczorowski would hit a three and then later make a free-throw to cut the Raiders lead to 49-41 with under 12 minutes left.
With less than seven mintues left,
Marissa Bunce made a bucket to extend the Raiders lead to 64-46.
Bunce led the Raiders on the night with 18 points, going 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. Child finished the game with 16 points, four rebounds, and two blocks.
Freshman
Marissa Sell just missed out on a double-double, finishing the game with 10 points and eight rebounds.
As a team, the Raiders were 46.7% from three-point range, hitting 7 of 15.
The Raiders never trailed in the game, giving the team a vital win in conference play,
The Raiders are now 12-7 overall and 2-2 in the AMC.
The team is back in action tomorrow when they host Point Park University at 2pm. The Pioneers are 13-4 and are undefeated at 6-0 in the AMC.
