Raiders Pick Up Crucial Road Win at Daemen

AMHERST, N.Y. (January 31, 2012) - The Women's Basketball team defeated Daemen College this evening, 53-41 in a crucial conference road game.

The Raiders have now won three straight games and evened the regular season series between the Thruway rivals. Both teams' wins have come on the road as Daemen defeated the Raiders 58-54 in OT in the Voller Athletic Center on January 10.

Daemen came into the game having received votes in the latest NAIA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

Marissa Bunce led the visitors with 13 points after making three shots from beyond the arc.

The Raiders took control of the game early in the first half after Sarah Child hit a jumper to make it 9-7 with 12:39 remaing. The Raiders would lead by as many as 14 points several times.

Child finished the night with 12 points and hauled in 8 rebounds.

Carneisha Henry chipped in 9 points to go along with 7 rebounds in the game.

The Raiders held Daemen to only 23.6% shooting from the field as the Wildcats hit only 17 of 72 shots. Daemen was aslo cold from the free throw line, going 1 of 8 from the charity stripe.

Courtney Donovan led the Wildcats with 11 points.

The win improves the Raiders record to 15-8 overall and 5-3 in the American Mideast Conference.

The Raiders are back in action on Thursday when they host Fisher College (Mass.) at 6pm.
