Roberts Men Defeat St. Thomas Aquinas, Lose to NYIT

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (March 12, 2012) -The Men's Tennis team two matches over the weekend after defeating St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday and falling to New York Institute of Technology on Sunday.
 
In their match against St. Thomas, the Raiders ran their record to 8-4 on the season with a 7-2 win. The Raiders got wins from 1st doubles (Beka Buchukuri/Julio Toledo) and 3rd  doubles (Jordan Sadowitz/Emanual Rauchle). St. Thomas won a tough 9-7 match at 2nd doubles.
 
German Michaylyszyn, Enrique Flores, Toldeo, Rauchle and Sadowitz each recorded singles wins.  Toledo and Sadowitz remain unbeaten after 5 matches this spring. Enrique Flores sealed the victory for the Raiders with a 6-3, 6-3 win over St. Thomas' Will Tronsor.
 
On Sunday, the team finished their three day trip to New York City with a hard 5-4 loss to future East Coast Conference opponent and #10 regionally ranked NYIT.  The Raiders earned a second doubles victory from Michaylyszyn and Flores, and singles victories from Michaylyszyn, Flores and Sadowitz. 
 
"The ECC is going to be a very competitive conference for us,” said Coach Tom Linhart. “The teams are talented up and down the conference."
 
Sadowitz is unbeaten in the Spring season, running his winning streak to 5 matches in singles. 
 
The Raiders head west to Lima, Ohio this weekend to play NAIA powers University of Northwestern Ohio and Aquinas College.
