Women’s Soccer Shuts out Daemen

An early lead helps the Redhawks gain momentum

Amherst N.Y. (October 11, 2014) – The Women's Soccer team found success against ECC rivals Daemen College 2-0 this afternoon.

The Redhawks set the tone early, sophomore Bella Mitrevski took advantage of Daemen's goalie when she was out position with a high shot 35 yards out. This is Mitrevski's seventh goal this season; she was assisted by team mate Heaven Palamitia. The first half ended 1 -0

The game was gritty with a total of 25 combined fouls. Roberts Wesleyan kept their aggressive edge and totaled four off sides and three corners. 

The Redhawks fired again early in the second half.  In the 55th minute Ellie Swan finished a ball into the inside right corner, this is her fifth goal of the season. Freshman Samantha Moreno recorded the assist.

Marissa Sell earned a shutout for the match, she totaled 5 saves to keep the Redhawks on top.

The much needed win puts Roberts Wesleyan at  6-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

They play again this Tuesday October 14th at Edinboro College in Pennsylvania, kick off starts at 6pm.
